Juan Facundo Quiroga. Manuscript letter to his wife Dolores, September 16, 1831.

Commentary:

Before entering battle, Quiroga asks his wife to sell everything he owns to educate their children if he does not return.

Portrayed as a barbarian by Domingo Sarmiento, this document clearly shows that Facundo cared about his family and understood the importance of a good education - hardly, the actions or beliefs of a barbarian.
