Augustinus, De civitate Dei cum commento sacre pagine professorum ordinis predicatorum Thome Valois et Nicolai Triveth (Freiburg im Breisgau: Kilian Fischer, 1494) .

This volume contains another edition of Augustine's City of God with the commentary of Thomas Waleys and Nicholas Trevet. This German printing may be compared with Scoto's Venetian edition (catalogue no 32). Plate 12a-b (L2v-L3r: Book 4, chapters 26-27 of the City of God) displays two different layouts: the verso (12a) shows the center block of Augustine's text surrounded by the commentary; the recto (12b) shows two full columns of the text with parallel columns of commentary in the margins. This volume is rubricated by hand throughout with attractive red and blue initials. An inscription on the inside front cover indicates that this book was purchased in the fifteenth century for two gold florins.
