Peter Hieremia of Palermo (1399-1452) studied law at the University of Bologna and entered the Dominican Order there in 1425. He wrote several collections of sermons, which were published in separately foliated booklets by Jacopo Britannico in Brescia in 1502. These books could be bound separately, altogether or in various combinations.

Besides the present collection, Jacopo printed Peter's

  1. sermons for Advent;
  2. sermons for Lent concerning penance;
  3. sermons concerning prayer, in the form of an exposition of the Lord's Prayer;
  4. sermons concerning the ten commandments and the fourfold law;
  5. sermons for the feastdays of saints.

This volume contains Peter's collection of 26 sermons treating the articles of faith. The name of the printer and the place and date of publication do not appear in this separately bound volume of 68 folios printed in double columns, either on the title page or in the colophon: "Expliciunt sermones de fide seu de .xij. articulis fidei compilati a fratre petro Jeremia de sicilia ordinis predicatorum: predicatore gloriosisssimo" (fol. 68vb).
