Holcot, Robert (d. 1349). Ropertus Holgot super libros sapientie. Reutlingen: Joh[ann]e Otmar, 1489. Robert Holcot (d. 1349), Dominican theologian and preacher, was Regent Master of Oxford from 1332-34, and possibly at Cambridge from 1334-35, at which time he is supposed to have written the Commentary on the Books of Wisdom. This was one of the best known commentaries on the Wisdom books in the fourteenth century, and its fame lasted well beyond; Holcot's Commentary was first printed in 1480 and went through about 17 editions. Notre Dame's copy was formerly in the Fürstlich Fürstenbergisch Hofbibliothek of Donaueschingen. |
