Thomas Morell (1703-84) gained fame as a classical scholar for his numerous works on Greek language and editions of Greek drama. However, his first venture into the translation field was an edition of the Canterbury Tales in 1737 while studying divinity at Cambridge. This text is the second edition of his work and bears the name of Ann Morell on the title page.
