General José María Paz. [Manuscript Letter] April 17, 1830

    Commentary:

Paz, the most important Unitario general during the Argentine civil wars of the 1820s and early 1830s, wrote this letter during the civil war between Unitarios and federalists for the control of the provinces. He talks about the peace prevailing in nine of the fourteen provinces that made up the Argentine territory. Paz invites the governor of the province of San Juan to support an amnesty. In return, he promises military protection.
