Gonzalo de Illescas. Historia Pontifical y Catholica. vol. 1 of 3. Salamanca: Domingo de Portonarijs, 1569.

Illescas was a Spanish priest and writer on history and religion. His Historia Pontifical discusses the popes from Christ to Boniface VIII (1301), then shifts to a history of the kings of Castile and Leon and the kings of Portugal up to his own day. The Durand Collection also contains three later volumes of the Historia Pontifical (1573-1621) in which Illescas continued the history of the popes up to his own day.
