[Thomas de Aquino, O.P., Summa theologiae IIa-IIae] (Strassburg? about 1474) . Authorities assign the printing of this edition to Michael Reyser at Eichstätt or Heinrich Eggestein at Strassburg. This printing of the second half of the second part of the Summa theologiae, Thomas Aquinas's great treatise on the moral life, reflects the special esteem for his pastoral and moral teaching in the late Middle Ages, in Germany and elsewhere (see catalogue n° 11). The text of the Summa in this edition is preceded by a table of questions (fols. Ir-VIIv). The book is hand rubricated and decorated, with running headlines to the text, and has a fifteenth-century leather semi-binding over boards. The illuminated initial and border design on the first recto of the text is by an Italian artist. References: Goff T-211; Masin 128-29 no 68.
