Tractato contra il peccato della lingua . . . compilata et facta per frate Domenico Chavalcha davico pisano frate predicatore (Florence: Nicolo di Lorenzo della Magna, between 1476 and 1477) .

Domenico Cavalca entered the Dominican Order in Pisa and spent most of his religious life there until his death in 1342. He wrote many spiritual treatises in Italian. This work on the sins of the tongue borrows heavily from the the eighth part of the Summa de vitiis of Peraldus (see catalogue n° 2). This is perhaps the first book printed by Nicolo della Magna, who was active between 1477 (his first dated book) and 1486. The book displays a "classical" page in the tradition of Nicholas Jensen; this copy is initialed by hand in blue ink.
