Tractatus de efficacia aque benedicte, per venerandum magistrum Johannem de Turrecremata, sacre theologie professorem ordinis predicatorum (Augsburg: Anton Sorg, about 1476) . The Spanish Dominican Juan de Torquemada (ca. 1388-1468) was a leading ecclesiastical figure in the fifteenth century. He was named a Cardinal priest of the Roman Church in 1439. Schooled in theology at Paris, he participated in the controversial Councils of the fifteenth century (Constance, Basel, Ferrara, Florence). Torquemada's treatise on the sacramental holy water was written against the Englishman Peter Payne (1455) and other Hussite heretics in Bohemia.
