Martin de Moussy (1810-1869)
Biographical Information
Martin de Moussy, French physician and natural scientist, served Justo J. Urquiza in exploring the Uruguay and Paraná rivers and promoted new scientific and philosophical developments in the region. He directed a four-year study to chart Argentina's geography. The outcome was the three volume Descripcion géographiqe et statistique de la Confédération Argentine. Upon his return to France, his efforts were recognized by his nomination as Chevalier of the Legion of Honor.

The archive contains one letter dated 1863 in which de Moussy writes to J.J. Urquize that he is sending him some books. He also wishes to recommend Sr. Speluzzi to him, for he shall be "una buena adquisición para el país."
